BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka was transferred to a cabin from the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on Wednesday noon.

She was shifted to the cabin at 1:05pm.

BNP Chairperson’s press wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to Jago News.

In this connection, Khaleda’s personal doctor and the party’s Vice Chairman A Z M Zahid Hossain, said madam (Khaleda) has been taken to the cabin. The medical board will take next decision after some medical tests.

Khaleda was taken to the hospital from her Gulshan residence after she felt sick early Saturday. Later, she underwent angiogram and had a stent placed into a coronary artery as 99 per cent blockage was detected inside the artery.

Khaleda, a 76-year-old former prime minister, has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung and eye problems.

She was convicted in two graft cases and was taken to jail three years ago. In April 2020, in the beginning of Covid pandemic, the government granted a request from her family for a conditional temporary release from jail for “humanitarian reasons”.
