China ready to maintain close ties with Jamaat, other parties: Ambassador

China’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to strengthening ties with Bangladesh and its political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, during a humanitarian event on Sunday in Gazipur.
The ambassador expressed China's readiness to maintain close cooperation, implement people-focused projects, and deepen bonds between the two nations.
“As Bangladesh’s trusted friend and development partner, China is always ready to support Bangladesh in its development journey and improve the livelihoods of its people through practical actions,” said Ambassador Yao, according to a Chinese Embassy press release.
Speaking at a blanket donation ceremony organised for the underprivileged by Jamaat-e-Islami, Ambassador Yao highlighted the challenges posed by this winter’s sharp drop in temperatures, which have affected the health and livelihoods of many residents. “China cares deeply about the well-being of the Bangladeshi people. We hope these blankets bring warmth and help everyone face the cold, ensuring a healthy and safe winter,” he added.
Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for its humanitarian initiative. He praised the growing cooperation between the two countries and emphasised Jamaat-e-Islami’s willingness to deepen party-to-party relations and enhance people-to-people exchanges to strengthen the Bangladesh-China partnership.
Following the ceremony, Ambassador Yao and Dr Shafiqur Rahman jointly distributed blankets to residents, visited local schools, and interacted with teachers and students. The visit fostered a warm and celebratory atmosphere, as residents waved Chinese and Bangladeshi flags and presented flowers to the ambassador.
