Manna’s no objection if NCP gets 'Water Lily'
Nagarik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna on Thursday, October 2, said he has no objection if the Election Commission (EC) allocates electoral symbol 'Water Lily' to the National Citizen Party (NCP).
“If the symbol is not given to me for being a national symbol, the Election Commission cannot allocate it to other,” Manna wrote in a post on his Facebook ID.
"However, I will not file any case if they (NCP) are given the Water Lily symbol considering their contribution to the Mass Uprising and toppling Sheikh Hasina's fascism," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, September 30, Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmad said the Commission (EC) approved the registration of the NCP ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections.
He, however, said the party’s chosen electoral symbol, the Water Lily, will not be available as it is absent from the EC’s official list of 115 approved symbols. An alternative will be confirmed before the party is formally registered.
The NCP has been demanding the EC must allocate it the Water Lily symbol.
