BNP suspends four for violence over party nomination
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has suspended four leaders for engaging in violence, clashes, and public disturbances—including blocking roads in Sitakunda, Chattogram—after Aslam Chowdhury was denied the party’s nomination for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The suspension order was issued on Monday (November 3) night through a press release signed by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The suspended leaders are Alauddin Moni, president of the Sitakunda upazila unit of Swechchhasebak Dal; Helal Uddin Babor, general secretary of the same unit; Mamun, convener of the Sitakunda municipality unit; and Momin Uddin Mintu, general secretary of the Sonaichhari unit of Juba Dal.
According to the press release, on Monday evening, the leaders engaged in violence, clashes, and public disorder—including blocking the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway—at Kadamrasul, Bhatiari Bazar, and Jalil Gate areas in Sitakunda, Chattogram, over the party’s nomination.
For these activities, they have been suspended from all party positions and stripped of their primary membership.
