Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Professor Mia Golam Parwar, addressing the Chief Adviser, said, “You are the head of the consensus commission and the head of the government. Immediately issue an order to implement the July Charter. If you do not, you will undermine the respect and dignity you have earned.”

He made the remarks on Thursday (6 November) around 10:30 am during a rally at Shapla Square in the capital, Dhaka. As part of a joint movement demanding five key points, Jamaat-e-Islami, along with seven other Islamic parties, will formally submit a memorandum to the Chief Adviser today. The rally at Shapla Square was organised in line with the previously announced programme.

Parwar said, “You (Dr. Yunus) have invited political parties to sit together to uphold respect. Here, you must act as a referee. Through broader unity, we will ensure free and fair elections in February.”

He added, “Today, eight parties will participate in the march towards Jamuna. We will first gather with our allied parties in Paltan. From various streets, the processions will converge, and, maintaining discipline, we will march from Paltan towards Jamuna, Inshallah.”

The rally also featured speeches by Nurul Islam Bulbul, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka Metropolitan South, and other party leaders.
