Khaleda under close observation in CCU
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently receiving treatment in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, under the supervision of a medical board comprising both local and international specialists.
On Thursday, November 27, her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member, Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, confirmed it.
He said that the medical board is closely monitoring her condition due to the complexity of her health issues.
A member of the board said, “She has pneumonia. Treatment is ongoing. Because of multiple coexisting conditions, it is not possible to administer all treatments simultaneously, and some risk remains. Various tests have been carried out, with both favourable and concerning results.”
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital at approximately 8 pm last Sunday. She is being treated under the care of the hospital’s cardiologist, Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, are maintaining regular contact with her medical team in London. Syeda Shamila Rahman, widow of the late Arafat Rahman, is also present at the hospital. Khaleda Zia has appealed to the public for prayers for her recovery.
She had travelled to London on January 7 for advanced medical care and returned to Bangladesh on May 6 after 117 days of treatment.
Following her return, she was admitted to Evercare Hospital for routine health assessments.
