Independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, Sharif Osman Hadi, who was injured in a gun attack, has been taken to Evercare Hospital from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as he is in a serious condition.

A specialised ICU ambulance carrying him reached Evercare Hospital around 8:05 pm on Friday, December 12.

About Osman Hadi's physical condition, Dhaka Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman told reporters that after his surgery, Hadi was shifted to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment.

No bullet was found in his head during the operation, and surgeons said the bullet had exited from his head, he said.

The decision to move Hadi to Evercare followed instructions from the highest levels of government, and the hospital acted accordingly, he added.

Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Moncho, was shot by unidentified assailants in the capital's Bijaynagar area this afternoon while travelling by rickshaw after Jumma prayers.

After the incident, he was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Doctors at the emergency department provided initial treatment and administered CPR, describing his condition as very alarming.

“Hadi has a bullet lodged in his head, and another bullet struck near his ear,” said Dr Mostaq Ahmed, residential surgeon at the emergency unit.

Before being shifted to the operation theatre of DMCH, a CT scan was conducted.

Hospital sources reported that surgeons began operating on him around 4:30 pm to remove a bullet from his jaw area and treat other injuries. His blood pressure later showed slight improvement, they said.

Earlier, Hadi’s verified Facebook page posted an appeal for B-negative blood after doctors recommended an urgent transfusion.

Misbah, who brought him to the hospital, said Hadi had just finished Jumma prayers and was passing through the Motijheel-Bijoynagar Culvert Road area by rickshaw when the attackers fired at him, striking him below the left ear.
