The BNP has nominated Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman to contest the 13th parliamentary elections from Jhenaidah-1 constituency (Shailkupa).

Sources in the party confirmed the matter on Wednesday, December 24.

After securing the nomination, Asaduzzaman said he will step down from his position on December 27.

Earlier on Tuesday, December 23, the upazila BNP leaders purchased a nomination paper on behalf of Asaduzzaman.

Asaduzzaman, a senior Supreme Court lawyer, was appointed as the attorney general on August 8, 2024, following the fall of the Awami League-led government on August 5 in the same year.

He was BNP's human rights affairs secretary and became a BNP candidate at the same Jatiya Sangsad seat in 2018.
