Nomination of Jamaat's Azad cancelled
The Election Commission (EC) has scrapped Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad's nomination paper for Cox's Bazar-4 constituency (Maheshkhali-Kutubdia).
Returning Officer Md Abdul Mannan announced his nomination paper invalid after scrutiny on Friday evening, January 2.
Sources in the returning officer's office stated that Azad's nomination paper was scrapped due to issues related to cases.
The nomination papers of five candidates have been declared valid. They are BNP's Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuj Ullah Farid, Islami Andolon's Ziaul Haque, Khelafat Majlish's Obaidul Quader Nadvi, Gono Odhikar Parishad's SM Rokanuzzaman Khan, and Jatiya Party's Md Mahmudul Karim.
