The Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) has announced that it will contest the upcoming 13th parliamentary election alone in 268 constituencies instead of joining the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance.
IAB Senior Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman announced this at a press conference at the party's Purana Paltan central office in Dhaka on Friday afternoon, January 16.
He stated that the party had named candidates in 270 seats ahead of the next national elections, and of them, the candidatures of two have been cancelled.
The decision came a day after the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance announced candidates for 253 constituencies.
Islami Andolan Bangladesh, a member of the coalition, did not attend the press conference.
