Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has claimed that the X account of its amir, Shafiqur Rahman, was hacked in a carefully planned conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by a particular party and its cyber team.

At an emergency press conference held at the party’s central office on Sunday, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahboob Zubair, said, “We are deeply concerned and believe this was orchestrated by a particular party or their cyber cell. The conspirators are involved in this.”

Ehsanul Mahboob added that following the incident yesterday, the party has noticed some programmes being declared immediately. “It seems the conspirators had been preparing for this for several days. They took control and posted objectionable content. There is a deep-rooted conspiracy here,” he said.

He also confirmed that a General Diary (GD) was filed last night and said the party will take all necessary measures, including legal action, to protect its reputation. “These are attempts to tarnish Jamaat. A group of people is conspiring to raise questions about the party. The matter will also be reported to the Election Commission,” he added.

Engineer Sirajul Islam, former president of Islami Chhatra Shibir and a member of Jamaat-e-Islami's IT cell, said the incident occurred on January 31. “At around 4:00 pm, the last official post was made on the X account of the Jamaat amir. Later, at 4:55 pm, a post appeared dated 4:37 pm, which was highly objectionable and contrary to our values and ideology. We later realized the account had been hacked. Shortly after, through the efforts of our server security team, full control of the account was regained,” he explained.
