Cricketers withdraw BPL boycott after talks with BCB
Cricketers have withdrawn their boycott of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) matches, which was announced in protest against controversial remarks made by BCB director M Nazmul Islam that had prompted calls for his resignation.
BCB Media Committee Chairman Amzad Hossain confirmed to Jago News around 11:30pm on Thursday that the cricketers would return to the field, adding that the BPL will resume from Friday.
Matches scheduled to be held on January 15 will now take place on January 16, resulting in a one-day change to the schedule.
Earlier, a high-level delegation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), led by BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul, met the cricketers after 10:00pm. CoAB President Mohammad Mithun, along with senior cricketers, represented the players at the meeting.
From the board’s side, those present included Aminul Islam Bulbul, Nazmun Abedeen Fahim, Iftekhar Ahmed, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, Shanian Tanim, and several other officials.
