BCI urges industries to embrace cloud for digital leap and cyber safety
Industry leaders and tech experts have underscored the critical role of cloud computing in accelerating digital transformation and bolstering cyber security across Bangladesh’s industrial and business sectors during a high-level training workshop organised by the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) on Saturday.
Titled “Cloud Computing for Industry/Businesses: Driving Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Measures,” the event brought together 25 representatives from leading industrial and business organisations, policymakers, and digital security specialists to explore practical pathways for cloud adoption in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
Delivering the keynote address, BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Pervez) stressed the urgency of technological adaptation. “In the era of artificial intelligence, technology is evolving at lightning speed. Our industries must keep pace,” he said. “Cloud computing is propelling global businesses to new heights. To remain competitive, Bangladeshi industries must embrace cloud-based solutions and shift toward data-driven decision-making.”
He also warned that with greater digital integration comes heightened cyber risk. “Strengthening cyber security is no longer optional—it’s essential,” he added.
The workshop was chaired by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a secure digital ecosystem. “The ICT Division is collaborating closely with academia, the private sector, and government agencies to enhance data protection and cyber resilience,” he said. “We expect to see tangible outcomes soon.” He further called for a mindset shift among public service providers to improve transparency and service delivery through digital tools.
Technical sessions were led by Rifat Rahman, CEO of Tirjok Private Limited, who outlined the strategic advantages of cloud infrastructure for manufacturing, logistics, and SMEs. Meanwhile, Md. Khairul Amin, former Director General of the National Digital Security Agency, joined virtually to deliver a focused session on “Cyber Security Measures for Industry/Businesses,” highlighting best practices in threat detection, data encryption, and incident response.
The interactive workshop concluded with a Q&A segment, participant feedback, and a certificate distribution ceremony presided over by BCI Director Dr Delwar Hossain Raja. BCI Secretary General Dr. Md Helal Uddin formally closed the event, thanking the chief guest, speakers, and attendees for their engagement.
With Bangladesh aiming to become a $1 trillion economy by 2041, the BCI’s initiative signals a growing consensus: cloud computing isn’t just a technological upgrade—it’s a strategic imperative for national industrial competitiveness and digital sovereignty.
