Yunus, Qatari minister discuss enhanced energy cooperation
Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Tuesday to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit and focused on issues of mutual interest, particularly in the context of Bangladesh’s growing energy needs driven by increasing foreign investment.
Among those present were Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and SDG Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed.
Ahead of the meeting, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said Bangladesh is seeking deeper collaboration with Qatar in the energy sector, especially in the area of gas supply to support the country’s expanding industrial base.
He noted that Bangladesh and Qatar already maintain a long-term LNG import agreement, and further discussions are expected to focus on broadening this partnership.
“The relationship between Bangladesh and Qatar is expected to deepen in the coming days,” Alam added.
