Jamaat nominates Abidur for Bogura-6 by-election

The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has nominated Bogura town unit amir and central executive committee member, Abidur Rahman Sohel, to contest the by-election to the Bogura-6 constituency left by BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

In line with the central decision, the town unit Jamaat announced this after an emergency meeting on Friday morning, February 27, said the unit's youth and sports secretary Abdus Salam Tuhin.

Earlier, Jamaat candidate Abidur Rahman Sohel competed in the 13th parliamentary election from the Bogura-6 constituency and lost to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

On Thursday, February 26, the BNP picked the district unit president, Rezaul Karim Badsha, for the Bogura-6 by-polls.

Tarique Rahman contested the February 12 general election from the Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17 constituencies and was elected from both seats.

But he left the Bogura-6 for the by-election and took oath as an MP from the Dhaka-17.
