Gold price crosses Tk 2.5 lakh per bhori again

Gold prices in the country have risen again, with 22-carat gold increasing by Tk 6,590 per bhori to reach Tk 252,409 per bhori, crossing the Tk 250,000 mark.

The adjustment comes amid a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The new prices came into effect at 10:00 am on Wednesday following a decision taken by BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.

The announcement was later confirmed in a statement issued by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.

Under the latest revision, 22-carat gold is priced at Tk 252,409 per bhori (up Tk 6,590), 21-carat at Tk 240,920 (up Tk 6,299), 18-carat at Tk 206,511 (up Tk 5,365), and traditional gold at Tk 168,195 per bhori (up Tk 4,374).

The increase follows a series of price adjustments in recent days, including a reduction on April 6 after multiple rounds of hikes earlier this month.

Alongside gold, silver prices have also been revised, with 22-carat silver priced at Tk 5,890 per bhori (down Tk 350), 21-carat at Tk 5,599 (up Tk 292), 18-carat at Tk 4,782 (up Tk 233), and traditional silver at Tk 3,616 per bhori (up Tk 233).
