DU officially cancels affiliation with 7 govt colleges

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have given final approval for the ‘honourable separation’ of its seven affiliated government colleges.

The approval was granted at the university’s fifth syndicate meeting of the year, held on Thursday (April 24). The meeting, which began at 5:00 pm, was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan.

Following the meeting, the university's Acting Registrar, Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, briefed reporters on the development.

He stated that, starting from the 2024–25 academic session, admission activities for the seven colleges will no longer be conducted under the university. With this decision, the formal process of an ‘honourable separation’ between the two entities has officially begun.
