Primary teacher, who injured in protests for 10th grade, dies
A primary school assistant teacher, who suffered injuries joining the protests for their salary upgrades to the 10th grade pay scale, has died in a Dhaka hospital.
The victim, Fatema Aktar, 45, taught at the Jhenaiya Government Primary School in Chandpur's Matlab North and was the wife of DM Solaiman, a resident of Thakurchar village in the upazila.
She died around 10:00am on Sunday, November 16, while undergoing treatment at Aalok Healthcare Ltd in the capital's Mirpur.
Teachers from Matlab North said Fatema fell seriously sick when the police fired sound grenades at a rally of the primary school assistant teachers on November 8. She was active in the movement, they said.
Abdul Baten, the president of Matlab North upazila primary school assistant teachers' association, expressed his profound shock at the death of Fatema, calling her as an honest and student friendly teacher.
