Shibir announces full panel for SUCSU

The 'Durbar Sustian Oikya' (Indomitable SUST Students Unity), a panel backed by the Islami Chhatra Shibir, has been announced for the Shahjalal University Central Students' Union (SUCSU) elections.

Chhatra Shibir’s central publicity secretary Azizur Rahman Azad announced the 23-member panel in front of the university’s Central Library around 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 7.

Delwar Hasan Shishir, a student of the English Department, and Muzahidul Islam of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Dept have been named as vice president (VP) and general secretary (GS) candidates, respectively, while Social Science’s Mohammad Shakil will contest for the assistant general secretary (AGS) post from the panel.

The university unit Chhatra Union today announced a boycott of the polls, alleging that the ongoing process centring the elections is completely untrustworthy, opaque, and questionable.

The election commission published a preliminary list of candidates for the SUCSU and Hall Union polls. Of them, 106 will compete in the central union and 86 in the hall union.

The Shahjalal University Central Students' Union (SUCSU) and Hall Union elections are scheduled for January 20.
