Indian, Pakistani forces exchange fire along LoC
Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday night, just days after 26 people were killed in a deadly militant attack in Pahalgam, Indian news outlet NDTV reported on Friday, citing military sources.
“There were incidents of small arms firing at some places along the LoC, initiated by Pakistan last night. The firing was effectively responded to,” the sources said.
There were no casualties reported in the exchange.
While Indian media have reported the incident, there has been no confirmation or comment from Pakistan or its media so far.
India on Wednesday imposed a series of strict measures against Pakistan, including the expulsion of Pakistani military attachés, suspension of the six-decade-old Indus Waters Treaty, and the immediate closure of the Attari land-transit post, in light of alleged “cross-border links” to Tuesday’s Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 people, including a Nepali national, dead.
In response, Pakistan on Thursday announced a series of retaliatory measures against India, including the suspension of trade, bilateral agreements, and airspace access.
