10 of Masood Azhar’s family killed in Indian strike
Maulana Masood Azhar, leader of the Pakistan-based extremist group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), claimed that 10 family members and four associates were killed in an Indian attack on the Subhan Allah Mosque in Bahawalpur.
The Jaish-e-Mohammed group informed it in a statement issued Wednesday, repots BBC Urdu.
The deceased included Azhar’s elder sister, her husband, his nephew and wife, a niece, five other family children, three close associates, and one associate’s mother.
JeM, responsible for a 2019 suicide attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 40 soldiers and nearly sparked war, condemned the strike as targeting civilians.
India’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, targeted alleged terror sites, including Bahawalpur. Pakistan denies the presence of terrorist camps, calling the strikes “unprovoked” and reporting civilian deaths.
