Kuwaiti oil tanker hit in reported Iranian attack at Dubai port

A Kuwaiti oil tanker anchored at Dubai Port in the United Arab Emirates was struck in a reported Iranian attack, intensifying security concerns across the Gulf region and raising the risk of environmental damage.

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that the Al-Salmi tanker was fully loaded at the time of the incident and sustained significant damage. The strike triggered a fire onboard, prompting fears of a potential oil spill in surrounding waters.

Authorities said no injuries were reported and all crew members remained safe.

The incident marks the second reported attack on a vessel in the region within the same day. Earlier, another tanker was struck by an unidentified object approximately 31 nautical miles (57 kilometers) northwest of the United Arab Emirates. No casualties were reported in that incident either.

Meanwhile, tensions have escalated across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries following reports of extensive aerial and missile activity. Saudi officials said more than 10 drones and nine ballistic missiles were launched toward the kingdom, with most targeting the Eastern Province, home to the majority of the country’s oil infrastructure.

Additional strikes were reported in the Al Kharj governorate, where the Prince Sultan Air Base, hosting U.S. military personnel,is located. Four ballistic missiles were also launched toward the Riyadh region, according to officials.
