A court in Dhaka has granted bail to former Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam Mawlana Mamunul Haque in three more cases.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque gave him bail on Tk 10,000 bond on Wednesday after a hearing, said his lawyer Syed Joynul Abedin.

Of the three cases, two were filed with Paltan Police Station in the capital after a clash of Hefazat leaders and activists with police during a program protesting the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh in 2021 while another was lodged with Motijheel Police Station following Hefazat men clashed with police during a rally organized at Shapla Chatter in Motijheel in 2013 to press home the organization's 13-point demand. In the latter case, 236 other Hefazat men were named.

Joynul Abedin said Mamunul Haque will not get released from jail now as he did not get bail yet in two other lawsuits - one is under trial in a Dhaka court and another in a court of Chattogram.
