Tony files writ petition against DNCRP

Rubiat Fatima Tony, owner of the clothing shop Sanvee's by Tony, has filed a writ petition in the High Court challenging the sealing off the business entity by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP).

Lawyer advocate Syed Khalekuzzaman Arun, who filed the petition on behalf of Tony, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Saturday.

It was alleged in the writ that DNCRP harassed the business entity, Sanvee's by Tony, and threatened it to close without issuing any notice and holding a hearing in this regard.

Alleging that the clothing shop was fined around Tk 2 lakh only with money receipts in the name of the directorate and without providing any evidence which is illegal, the writ sought remedy for it.

Earlier on May 12, Jabber Mondal, assistant director at the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, conducted a drive at the main showroom of Sanvee's by Tony and sealed off it following a complaint by a woman named Lubna Yeasmin.
