Adviser Hassan Ariff passes away
AF Hassan Ariff, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Land, passed away on Friday, December 20.
He breathed his last around 3:30pm while undergoing treatment at Labaid Specialized Hospital in Dhaka, his private secretary (PS) Mohammad Nasir Uddin told Jago News.
According to the initial information provided by the doctors, he died of heart attack, Nasir added.
Hassan Ariff took oath as an adviser to the interim government on August 8.
BSS adds: He served as an adviser of the Caretaker Government from January 2008 to January 2009 in charge of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Ministry of Land and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Hassan Ariff was born in Kolkata in 1941. He completed his secondary and higher secondary education from St. Xavier's College of Kolkata. Later, he obtained his honours and LLB Degree from Kolkata University.
He started his career from Kolkata High Court in 1967. Later, he shifted to Dhaka and started his legal profession as an advocate in the High Court from 1970.
Besides, he served as a legal adviser of different organisations, including the Roads and Highways Department, Chattogram Port Authority, Mongla Port Authority, Security and Exchange Commission, Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Development Authority, Chattogram Stock Exchange, University Grants Commission, and Grameenphone.
He was also an adviser of the Dhakeshwari National Temple Complex.
