The Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, met with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

Ambassador Heusgen extended an invitation to the Chief Adviser to attend the key annual security conference, scheduled to take place in Munich, Germany, in February.

During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed the July uprising, Bangladesh's relations with its neighbours, the Rohingya crisis, and the issue of online misinformation.

Ambassador Heusgen noted that online platforms, such as Facebook, are being used to spread fake news and misinformation about Bangladesh. He suggested that Bangladesh could consider emulating European nations' approach by enacting laws that require online platforms to fact-check content.

Lutfey Siddiqi, Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, and Lamiya Morshed, SDG Coordinator, also participated in the meeting.
