Ex-Habiganj-2 MP Abdul Majid arrested in Dhaka

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested former Member of Parliament (MP) for Habiganj-2, Abdul Majid Khan, in the Farmgate area of Dhaka on Monday night.
Confirming the arrest, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick stated that Abdul Majid was arrested in connection with a case filed in Habiganj related to casualties during an anti-discrimination student movement. He also faces multiple cases, and legal proceedings are underway.
Abdul Majid, a lawyer at the Habiganj District Judges’ Court, previously served as the president of the Habiganj District Bar Association.
He was elected as an MP from the Habiganj-2 constituency as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in the 9th National Parliament election (2008), the 10th election (2014), and the 11th election (2018).
