BPM, PPM awards of 103 police officials withdrawn

The government has withdrawn the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and the President Police Medal (PPM) awarded to 103 police officials, including former Inspectors General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Benazir Ahmed.

A gazette notification, signed by Tausif Ahmed, Senior Secretary to the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, was issued on Sunday.

The notification stated: "The Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM)/Bangladesh Police Medal-Service (BPM-Service)/President's Police Medal (PPM)/President's Police Medal-Service (PPM-Service) awarded to the following 103 [one hundred three] officers, who were directly involved in the controversial 10th National Parliamentary Election held on December 30, 2018, are hereby revoked as per the order."
