Dubai’s air rated ‘hazardous’, Dhaka’s ‘unhealthy’

Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, has topped the list for the worst air pollution, while Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, ranked sixth. The data was revealed by the Air Quality Index (IQAir) at 8:34 am on Wednesday (April 16).

Dubai recorded a pollution score of 696, indicating that the air there has reached a hazardous level. India’s capital, Delhi, ranked second with a score of 189, placing its air quality in the unhealthy category.

Dhaka, in sixth place, also falls under the unhealthy category based on its pollution score.

According to the index, an air quality score between 0 and 50 is considered good; 51 to 100 is moderate; and 101 to 150 is deemed unhealthy for sensitive groups. A score between 151 and 200 is classified as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and any score above 301 is categorized as hazardous.
