Youth who threatened to shoot in Bhatara detained
Detectives detained one of the accused, who allegedly fired in the air and threatened people to shoot with firearms in Dhaka's Bhatara area on April 1, in Kuril Biswa Road in the capital on Thursday night, April 17.
The detainee is Alinur Pavel alias as Pavel, 32.
Md Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said an intelligence team rounded him up around 10:30pm.
The detainee and his 10 to 12 cohorts boarding a private car appeared in front of a house owned by Md Rasheduzzaman Raju, a rival of Pavel, in Joyar Sahar Kha Para under Bhatara police station around 1:56am on April 1, he said.
The accused abused the victim, fired two rounds of bullets in blank, kicked the entrance gate and vandalised the CCTV camera of the house, the police official said.
The miscreants also threatened to shoot by displaying arms when locals tried to come out of the houses, and at one stage they left the scene, he said.
Later, victim Raju filed a case with Bhatara police station in this regard.
After scrutinising the CCTV footage, the detectives found involvement of the accused and detained him, and efforts were on to arrest the rest others.
