Juba Dal activist shot dead by teen gang in Noakhali

An activist of the Juba Dal was shot dead and his brother injured by members of a teenage gang in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.
The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Monday (April 28) at Gangabar Bazar in Ward No. 2 of Chayani Union.
The deceased, Md Shakil, son of Md Solaiman Khokon from the area, worked as an aluminum technician.
According to police and eyewitnesses, around 8:00 pm, five armed individuals attempted to abduct a youth named Labib using a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. As Shakil, his brother Shuvo, and others from a nearby tea shop rushed to intervene, the assailants opened fire indiscriminately and attacked with sharp weapons.
Shakil was shot, while Shuvo sustained stab injuries. Locals rushed the brothers to Noakhali General Hospital, where doctors declared Shakil dead.
Following the incident, enraged locals captured and beat up several of the attackers involved in the attempted abduction and assault. Police later rescued the accused from the mob and admitted them to the same hospital in critical condition.
The detained individuals were identified as Morshed Alam, 24, Jibon, 24, and Monir, 22, all residents of Dhitpur village in Alaiyapur Union of Begumganj.
Inspector (Investigation) of Begumganj Model Police Station Md Habibur Rahman said that police took the injured to the hospital upon receiving the news. Shakil’s body has been sent to the morgue of Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy. He added that legal action would be taken based on the family's complaint.
