The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has acquitted BNP leader Amanullah Aman, overturning his 13-year prison sentence in a case filed over illegal wealth accumulation and concealing information in his wealth statement. His wife, Sabera Aman, has also been acquitted.

The verdict was delivered on Wednesday (April 30) by a three-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, who is currently serving as the acting Chief Justice.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon stated that both Aman and his wife were acquitted in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The Appellate Division granted their appeals and overturned the previous verdict of the High Court.

Following the acquittal, Aman now faces no legal bar to contest future elections, according to his lawyer, Barrister Khokon.
