China opens 'green channel' for Bangladeshi medical visas

The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has launched a streamlined “Green Channel” initiative to facilitate medical treatment visas for Bangladeshi nationals, making it easier for patients to access advanced healthcare in China.

The announcement, made on Sunday, May 4, follows a public health cooperation agreement reached during Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus’ visit to China in March.

The embassy has introduced measures to expedite visa processing, including simplified documentation, dedicated services, and a streamlined interview process. Bangladeshi travel agencies with valid licenses can now issue guarantee letters for bank deposit certificates and proof of kinship, bypassing the need for authentication by the Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A dedicated counter at the Visa Application Service Centre allows applicants to submit documents without waiting, while urgent medical cases benefit from same-day visa issuance via the “Green Channel.” Online applications are prioritized for immediate review, and patients with scheduled appointments receive queue-free priority interviews. For those unable to attend in person due to medical conditions, travel agencies can authorise remote interviews.

To assist applicants, the embassy and Visa Centre have set up dedicated hotlines (Embassy: 02222260103, 01708464809; Visa Centre: 02226603261) and a WhatsApp service group (01885041364) for medical visa inquiries. “These measures reflect China’s commitment to supporting Bangladeshi patients seeking quality healthcare,” the embassy stated, highlighting the expertise of Chinese medical institutions in treating international patients.

The initiative invites more Bangladeshis to visit China for health check-ups, rehabilitation, and specialized care, strengthening bilateral ties. With simplified procedures and prioritized processing, the “Green Channel” is set to enhance access to China’s advanced medical facilities, offering hope to patients seeking cutting-edge treatment.
