Fire erupts at Bailey Road restaurant, fire-engines trapped in traffic

A fire broke out at a restaurant on the ground floor of the 10-storey Siraj Tower on Bailey Road, Dhaka, at 6:47pm on Monday, May 5, prompting the deployment of three Fire Service and Civil Defence units. 

However, severe traffic congestion has prevented the units from reaching the site, delaying response efforts.

Fire Service Duty Officer Khaleda Yasmin confirmed that the units were dispatched immediately after the report but remain stuck in traffic. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be determined, with no casualties reported so far. Authorities are working to clear the route and control the blaze.
