Mandatory CCTV cameras on long-haul buses from June 1

Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association has instructed the owners to install CCTV cameras on long-haul buses by June 1 aiming to prevent women harassment, robbery and snatching during Eid journey.

The association also directed the authorities concerned not to give serial to the buses whose owners will fail to comply with the instruction by the stipulated time.

Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association’s general secretary, Saiful Alam, gave the direction in an urgent meeting at the organisation’s office in Dhaka on Sunday, May 25. Road transport owners and workers attended the meeting.

Earlier on Saturday, May 24, the association sent letters to the bus companies with the direction.

On April 8, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) wrote to Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, asking it to take measures to prevent women harassment, robbery and snatching during Eid journey.
