5 killed as bus crashes into stationary truck in Dinajpur

At least five people, including a woman, were killed and seven others injured when a bus crashed into the rear of a stationary mango-laden truck in Ghoraghat, Dinajpur, early Saturday.
The accident occurred around 3:30 am on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in the Nurjahanpur area of Ghoraghat municipality.
The identities of the deceased have not been confirmed yet.
Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Haque confirmed the incident.
According to police, a Dhaka-bound bus of Nabil Paribahan, which had departed from Panchagarh with passengers, was heading towards Dhaka. When the bus reached the Nurjahanpur area under Ghoraghat, it rammed into a stationary mango-laden truck parked beside the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway. The front side of the bus, especially near the door, was severely damaged in the collision.
Three people died on the spot, and two others succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the hospital.
Of the seven injured, five have been referred to Dinajpur and Rangpur Medical College Hospitals, while the remaining two received primary treatment and left.
