ACC probes against 5 more NBR officials
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation into the allegations of corruption and irregularities against five more officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The officials are additional commissioner Abdul Rashid Mia, member Lutful Azim, CIC’s former additional director general Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, deputy tax commissioner Mohammad Shihabul Islam and Joint Commissioner Md Tareque Hasan. Three of them are the members of the NBR Reform Unity Council.
ACC public relations office confirmed the matter on Tuesday, July 1.
The anti-graft body earlier on June 29 said it had decided to investigate the alleged graft against six NBR officials. Most of them are the members of the NBR Reform Unity Council.
The NBR Reform Unity Council had been demonstrating for several days demanding logical reforms and the resignation of the NBR chairman.
On Monday, June 30, the council withdrew its ‘complete shutdown’ and ‘march for NBR’ programme.
