Police use sound grenades to disperse sacked BDR members at Kakrail
Police used water cannons and sound grenades to disperse a group of sacked BDR (now BGB) personnel who had gathered at the Kakrail Mosque intersection in Dhaka on Monday to press home their three-point demand.
The incident occurred around noon when the former BDR members attempted to march towards the Chief Adviser’s office and residence, Jamuna. In response, additional police forces were deployed in the area to bring the situation under control.
According to eyewitnesses, police initially urged the protesters to leave the area. When they refused, law enforcers fired water cannons and at least six sound grenades around 12:15 pm. Several individuals — including protesters and police personnel — were reportedly injured during the clash. Police also detained several demonstrators and gradually pushed the protesters towards the Matsya Bhaban area.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Ramna Division, Masud Alam, urged the demonstrators to send representatives to Jamuna and gave them a 10-minute ultimatum to vacate the intersection. However, the protesters rejected the proposal and vowed to continue their sit-in, prompting the police action.
Prior to the confrontation, around 11:45 am, the sacked BDR personnel had started a procession from Shahbagh towards Jamuna. Upon reaching the Kakrail Mosque intersection, they were intercepted by police and subsequently staged a sit-in at the location.
