Mahfuj Alam, Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has denied the corruption allegations made against him, claiming that certain individuals are attempting to tarnish his reputation because their personal interests are being threatened. He also alleged that several influential figures from various political parties are involved in a conspiracy against him and vowed to expose all such plots.

In a post from his verified Facebook account at 2:51 am on Tuesday, Mahfuj Alam recounted an incident related to lobbying. “When the issue of lobbying came up, let me share an incident. One of our friends introduced a person to my brother. They offered a percentage if he could help with a BTV tender project and promised assistance with some overseas programmes in July. When I found out, I forbade it. Even with good intentions, the trust of the state must not be betrayed. Later, that tender project was also suspended,” he wrote.

He further claimed that the individual secretly recorded their conversation and sent it to a journalist. When the journalist contacted him, he clarified that the proposed deal was not approved. The person allegedly tried to discredit him by referencing the July program. However, the journalist was convinced by his explanation and chose not to publish the recording.

Mahfuj Alam stated that many people's vested interests are being affected, which is why allegations are being raised against him. He reiterated that influential figures from various parties are working against him and insisted that all conspiracies will be revealed.

He also noted that even his harshest critics over the past 12 months have not accused him of corruption or financial misconduct. He stressed that the responsibility of the state is a sacred trust, and the honor and trust of the state are more important than even billions of taka.

The adviser added that he edited some sentences in his Facebook post that had caused confusion. He described July as a "political mobility ladder" for some and said that multiple influential figures—not just one—are targeting him and his team. He urged the public to unite against rumor-mongers and opportunists.
