The International Crimes Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her ICT adviser, in a case over crimes against humanity during the July Uprising last year.

A three-member panel of ICT-1, headed by its Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order on Thursday, December 4, said prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim.

The tribunal took cognizance of the formal charges against Joy and former state minister for ICT Zonaid Ahmed Palak in the case.

The court also set December 10 for the charge framing hearing.

According to court documents, call records of Joy's conversation with Palak during the July Uprising have been found. There has also been information regarding conversations about carrying out attacks on protesters by shutting down the internet.
