DMP says no evidence Hadi's attackers fled to India
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has stated there is no verified evidence that the attackers involved in the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and independent candidate for Dhaka-8, have crossed into India.
On Sunday, December 14, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said multiple investigative teams, including the Detective Branch, are actively pursuing leads. “At this stage, we have no confirmed information indicating any suspect has left the country,” he said.
A press briefing is scheduled later Sunday at the DMP Media Center, where Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam will provide further updates.
Earlier, Qatar-based journalist Zulkarnain Saer claimed on Facebook that two alleged suspects, Faisal Karim Masud, alias Daud Khan, a former Chhatra League leader, and his associate Alamgir Hossain, the motorcyclist involved, crossed into India on December 12 and are now in Guwahati, Assam.
Saer also alleged that they are receiving support from Md Masudur Rahman Biplob, personal assistant to senior Awami League leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and warned that similar attacks by other “hit squads” may occur in the near future.
