Hadi remains in critical condition: Medical board
Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who sustained life-threatening injuries in a gun attack, is still fighting for his life in the Critical Care Unit at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
His condition remains very critical, with severe brain damage and lung injuries, though kidney function has now stabilised.
A 12-member medical board of specialist doctors issued an update on his condition on Saturday, December 13.
The board stated that Hadi’s brain has suffered extensive damage from the gunshot.
Surgical intervention has been completed, and he is now under conservative management with full adherence to brain protection protocols.
A repeat CT scan of the brain may be considered once his condition stabilises further.
Regarding his lung injury, the board noted that a small amount of blood continues to drain via a chest tube, which will remain in place.
Ventilator support is being maintained with extreme caution to prevent infection and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
Kidney function, which had been compromised, has now returned to normal and will be supported through careful fluid balance management.
Earlier imbalances in blood clotting and bleeding have largely been brought under control, with round-the-clock monitoring and transfusions of blood products continuing as required.
Fluctuations in blood pressure and heart rate, caused by brainstem injury, are being managed with ongoing medication, and the team is prepared to insert a temporary pacemaker immediately if his heart rate falls dangerously low.
The medical board expressed heartfelt gratitude to staff at Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s One-Stop Crisis Centre, Radiology, ICU, Anaesthesia, Neurosurgery, and other departments for their exceptional and compassionate care during the initial phase of treatment.
“The patient’s overall condition remains very critical,” the board emphasised.
The medical summary has been shared with Hadi’s brothers and close relatives.
The team has appealed for public prayers for his recovery, urged people not to visit the hospital unnecessarily, and requested that no speculative or misleading information be spread.
