SPs demand magistracy power during election
The Superintendents of Police (SPs) have demanded that the government grant them magistracy power to perform duties in the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections.
They made the demand at a day-long conference with the Election Commission (EC) at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka's Agargaon on Tuesday, December 23.
Apart from the SPs, deputy commissioners, deputy inspectors general (DIGs), and divisional commissioners of all ranges, and regional election officers attended the conference.
At the conference, the police superintendents demanded magistracy power, along with increasing the number of executive magistrates.
They also recommended raising manpower in the police force and the election budget for them.
