Trader stores 25,000 liters of diesel in building basement, fined
A mobile court has fined a trader in Sherpur for illegally storing 25,000 litres of diesel in the basement of a multi-storey building. The court also ordered the removal of the fuel and tanks within one day.
A two-hour raid was conducted in the Gopalpatti area of the town at around 12:30 am on Friday. During the raid, Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan fined Tapas Nandi, owner of Messrs Shimla Traders, Tk 10,000.

Tapas Nandi, along with one Shafiqul Islam Helal, had long been operating a business by storing diesel in tanks illegally installed in the basement of a residential building. Acting on intelligence information, the mobile court carried out the raid and found 25,000 litres of diesel. The trader was subsequently fined Tk 10,000 and instructed to remove all fuel and equipment within one day.
Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan said the fine was imposed in accordance with the law, and the removal of the fuel and related equipment from the building was also ordered.
