Moving bus catches fire in Jashore, passengers narrowly escape

More than 50 passengers narrowly escaped as a bus caught fire in Sadar upazila of Jashore on Friday afternoon, March 27.

The blaze broke out on a "Narail Express" bus in Fatehpur area on the Jashore-Narail highway around 4:30 pm.

Witnesses and locals said the fire suddenly broke out on the bus when it reached Fatehpur area. However, panicked passengers managed to come out of the vehicle before it was completely gutted.

Later, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the bus burning.

Before the bus left Jashore, the driver informed the owners of a technical glitch in it, said Kotwali police station's inspector (investigation), Quazi Babul Islam, adding that he, despite this, left for Dhaka in the owners' insistence.

Police launched an investigation into the matter, the inspector said.
