Fire breaks out in Upaban Express train engine in Moulvibazar
A fire broke out in the engine of the Upaban Express train traveling from Dhaka to Sylhet at Bhanugach-Shamshernagar railway station in Moulvibazar's Kamalganj upazila early Tuesday, March 31.
The incident took place at Purba Kalipur area of Shamshernagar in the upazila around 6:00 am.
According to railway officials, the fire is believed to have started after engine oil (mobil) leaked while the train was in motion, quickly spreading within the engine compartment.
Train services along the route were briefly affected but later returned to normal, with no significant schedule disruptions reported.
Confirming the matter, Kulaura Station Master Roman Ahmed said that an alternative engine was dispatched from Sylhet to recover the train and resume operations.
No casualties or serious injuries have so far been reported in this connection, he added.
