113 die with measles symptoms in three weeks
Some 113 people died with measles symptoms in different parts of the country in the last three weeks as the disease continued to spread.
Laboratory tests confirmed that 17 out of 113 individuals died of measles, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Sunday, April 5.
In the last 24 hours, the deaths of 10 more people with measles symptoms were reported, and two of them were confirmed to have died from the disease.
During the period, 974 persons were hospitalised with the same symptoms, and of them, 54 were confirmed to be infected with the pathogen.
From March 15 to April 5, a total of 5,470 people have been admitted to various hospitals with measles-like symptoms, and of them, 929 have been diagnosed with the disease.
The health directorate said it has been recording measles-related data since March 15.
