Legal notice seeks travel ban on Yunus, 24 others

A legal notice has been served on the authorities concerned seeking a travel ban on 24 individuals, including former chief adviser to the interim government Muhammad Yunus, over alleged involvement in transferring measles vaccination services from the state system to the private sector.

The notice was sent on Monday, April 6, by Supreme Court lawyer M Ashraful Islam, who confirmed the development to Jago News.

In the notice, the lawyer alleged that Dr Yunus and his advisers were involved in “irregular and unlawful” activities related to the alleged privatisation of measles vaccine distribution.

He urged the government to impose an immediate ban on their departure from the country pending further investigation.

According to the lawyer, the move to shift measles vaccination from a government-managed system to private hands has raised serious public health and legal concerns, prompting the legal action.

No official statement from the government or the individuals named in the notice was immediately available.
