The operation was carried out by members of the 58 BGB Battalion in several areas under Baghadanga, Polyannpur and Kusumpur border outposts, according to an official statement signed by Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman on Sunday evening.

The Indian national was identified as Jasim Uddin, a resident of Hooghly district in India. Authorities recovered an Aadhaar card, an Indian passport, other identification documents and Indian currency from his possession.

The Bangladeshi detainees are from districts including Khulna, Faridpur, Thakurgaon, Gopalganj, Bagerhat, Rajbari and Jhenaidah. The group also includes a woman and two children from the same family in Terokhada, Khulna.

BGB officials said Jasim Uddin was detained from a maize field in the Hudopara area of Baghadanga village. In a separate operation under Polyannpur outpost, four people, including a man, a woman and two children, were detained. Another six were held from a paddy field in the Pepulbaria area under Kusumpur outpost.

All detainees were handed over to Maheshpur Police Station.
