Voting is underway in the by-election to the Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency and the postponed election in Sherpur-3. Polling began at 7:30am on Thursday (April 9) in the two constituencies and will continue until 4:30pm.

To ensure transparency, CCTV cameras have been installed at all polling centres. A festive atmosphere is prevailing across the districts, centring on the elections.

The 13th National Parliamentary election, along with a referendum, was held on February 12 across 299 constituencies. BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, who was elected from Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6, later vacated the Bogura-6 seat, prompting the Election Commission (EC) to declare it vacant and announce a fresh schedule.

Meanwhile, the election in the Sherpur-3 constituency was cancelled eight days before the national election following the death of a valid candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami in the constituency.
